The Caisa Villa

The Caisa Villa

At the beginning of this month I have bought a house. I know, this does not sound too exciting because building is my profession .But for the first time I have bought a house that has been built by other people. The house is a beautiful Metropole Architect design and I liked it from the beginning. What happened then makes it so exciting. You would not believe how easy it is to destroy a great design.
Not only that the house has got no personality, it is boring and some parts are surprisingly ugly. Let me start with the entrance. The most beautiful entrance door leads on the left hand side to the staircase. Originally this part has been designed double volume.
The previous owners then decided to use the second volume as a study. Not a bad idea in case of space but the picture will show how how poor the figure staircase has turned out. The floating element lost its dimension and the handrail looks busy. On top of this discussable decision it has been decided to cover the podium leading to the staircase with timber. This dark painted timber leads then to the guest toilet door. The beautiful wooden door has been treated with a kind of transparent glossy topping. The result is a nightmare. The wood from the staircase does not complement the decking of the podium and the door that it is leading to does not pick up any of the used materials or colours. I know this sounds ridiculous but the solution is not so difficult. We take out the decking and continue with the floor from the living area. The balustrade will be removed completely and a glass element will cover from the steel boom to the ceiling. So we create a floating atmosphere and give the area a kind of lightness. The door into the guest toilet will got a strong and darker coating to create personality. I will show you the progress soon. The kitchen is next area to work with before we create the living area. Again the design is professionally well done, even though I am not a great fan of this traditional style. All units are sitting against the wall and the beauty of a white kitchen has not been brought to life. The walls has been painted in a kind of light grey but the grey stone they have used is absorbing the colour. Impossible to imagine having fun in this functional but cold kitchen. I will try to create some atmosphere with a bright colour between blue and green and we will extend the bar unit into the living area. The window will get a blind to make it cozy. The outside area is really bad. The decking there is a nightmare and the pool is not inviting at all. The plan is to remove the decking completely and use a colour that complements the beautiful concrete floor of the whole house.
The pool itself will get a white finish and between the pool and the glass door a jacuzzi will be installed. Next time I will show you the images of the bedroom and the living area. Together we will follow the transformation and have fun.
